The 3 careers I have chosen are Fashion Designer, Photographer, and Writer/Journalist.

Before you did this exercise, did you already know all the information in the "Nature of the Work" section, or were there some things that surprised you?
If there were some things you didn't know, what are some examples?
I knew pretty much everything about the nature of work for a fashion designer. One thing I did not know is that the design process from initial design inception to final production takes between 18 to 24 months. Another thing I didn't know was once designs and fabrics are chosen, a Prototype of the article using cheaper material is created and then worn by a model to see what adjustments to the design need to be made.
One thing that I didn't know about photography is that I had no clue there were so many different kinds of photographers. There are: Portrait photographers, commercial and industrial photographers, scientific, news, or fine arts photographers
I knew all there was to know about the nature of work for a writer and editor.

How many years of training did you expect to have to complete for the career before you read the file in the OOH?
How many years of training is is suggested in the OOH?
I thought that I wold need 2-4 years of college to be a fashion designer, and I was right.
I didn't think that I would need much formal training to be a photographer, I thought all I would need to learn how to do was use the equipment, but it turns out entry-level positions in photojournalism or in industrial or scientific photography or in a field related to the industry in which the photographer seeks employment. I also found out that freelance and and portrait photographers need technical proficiency, gained through either a degree program, vocational training, or extensive photography experience.
For writers I thought you would need a college degree, again I was right.

How is the job out look for the career you have chosen?
Is this promising or forbidding?
All three of the careers I have chosen are highly competitive.
there will be more job opening in these fields by the year 2014.
This is forbidding right now, but may be promising in the future.

How are the earnings for the career you have chosen?
Will this be enough to live on your own?
The yearly income for a fashion designer ranges from $27,970 - $112,840. The average pay is $55,840. This will be enough for me to live on if I make the average amount.
Photographers can anything from less than $15,000 -$54,180. the average amount made is$26,080. I can live off of this if I am somewhere in the top 10 percent income.
Writers can make any thing from $23,330 - $91,260. The average amount made is $44,350.
I can live on this income if I make at least a little over average.

Of the 3 career options you have listed above, which seems the most feasible for you personally? Why?
Why do you think that this career will be rewarding?
How old will you be when you have completed the training neccesary to qualify for the position you choose?
How will you support yourself until then?
Of the 3 careers I have been talking about, I would choose to be a fashion designer, because it is what I would really love to do. This career will be rewarding because of the pay, it is fun and exciting and I will never get bored doing it.
I can complete my training as young as 22 years old.
I will get a part-time job as sales associate for a retail department store.
